Subs, amps, and ohms?

I have 2 kicker L7's 1000 watts RMS, and 2 ohms each. So what does it mean if an amp says 2500 watts RMS at 2 ohms and 1250 and 4 ohms? Would that power my subs at 2500 watts or 1250 watts?
